Spacers?
I am going to bolt down the 60/40 bench I got a while back from a 88-98 model truck. I will need to drill holes and get something to use as a spacer to keep it level. What should I use? I don't have access to a welder to modify or get new brakcets made. Washers seems ghetto to me. A block of wood doesn't seem sturdy enough. I gues wood could work or rubber. Any suggestions?

Honestly, i used a short stack of washers on mine. Got a real big washer underneath to spread the load so it wouldn't get ripped out as everyone seems to be scared of... but in all reality, your seat belt would prevent that from ever happening.

Yeah washers was my 1st thought. But like you said I wonder about the safety. I am pretty sure I'll go with the wasers.

Use some black iron pipe from the hardware store for your spacers and find some flat stock and make plates for the bottom. That should make it safe and strong.

I used a piece of xxx tubing, the I.D. was about 7/16" and 1" O.D. Solid mount, although I dont see washers being a problem. I did it mainly for looks.

Fender washer are cheap. Like mentioned above stack em up and paint em black...

I saw one with a cheapie socket for a spacer.It had washers at both ends.3/8 drive so the bolt would fit thru.

my local Lowe's has assorted aluminum, brass and steel spacers in 1/4" increments and various I.D. and O.D.'s ...
