Bed ??

What years only had wood bed floors?? A buddy is building a '67 and has a 72 step bed and wondered if the '67 beds had a steel floor.

Re: Bed ??

I may be wrong, and someone on here with more knowledge than me can & no doubt will correct me if so, but I think ALL stepsides had wood floors only until the mid-late 1980's.

Many stepsides had metal floors of one kind or another installed later, as the wood rotted out, but unless I'm wrong, they all were originally wood.

Fleetsides could be had either way, wood or steel, I believe, & I'm not sure of what model or dealer packages were ordered or stock that way.

Re: Bed ??

all stepsides had wood till 88 when they went to the 88 - 98 body style.
Steel standard in all fleetsides starting in 67, with the exception of the longhorn... only in wood.
The optional wood in 6.5 ft and 8 ft beds was not included in any package, only in it's own option, and went well into the 73 - 87 year trucks... possibly till 87, but I am not sure.

Andy I'm no expert on steppers, but I am pretty sure the metal floor option ended in 72. I have never seen a 73-87 stepside with a "factory" metal floor.

I think he was talkin' fleets, but I've never seen a 73-87 wood floored fleet personally. Must be rare birds 'round these parts...

Re: Bed ??

I have no idea why I said stepside. He is correct in that respect. I meant to say 73-87 fleetsides were not available with a wood floor "as far as I know"....

Re: Bed ??

73 and up were available with a wood floor on fleetsides, i found one in pick-n-pull a few years ago. first and only one i've ever seen so i have no idea how far up they went with wood being an option. if i remember correctly the truck i saw was a 74 or 75 model long fleet.

Re: Bed ??

i did in fact leave out *fleet* in that sentence.
I've seen a 78 'bog 10' with a wooden floor... looked factory fresh... in a junk yard. (original paint too)
