Doing a axel swap from 87burb to 70 chev?

A local guy has a 87 3/4ton suburban 4x4 he's parting out. First will the fit be right? I'm getting the hole shooting match springs and steering stuff. Is this a bolt in bolt up modification? Thanks Bob-- my truck is a 1970 4x4 6 hole

Springs are too long, spring perches on axle are too narrow and will have to be relocated.

I think that's only partially true. Are you wanting to swap in the front and rear axles? Jtrux is correct on the rear axle. However, the front axle should be a direct bolt it, using your current springs.

Thanks for the replies. What Year and back would be a bolt in for me. Or is it only a burb to pickup thing?

Re: Doing a axel swap from 87burb to 70 chev?

If you find a one ton 73-91(?) 4x4 the rear axle will go in w/ out moving perches but the shock mounts will need moved.Or for the rear look for the good ol bullet proof Ho52 from a 69-72 Chevy or GMC and use it in the rear, better than a 14 bolt IMO. The fronts (44 or corp 10 bolt) will go in with no mods from a truck, blazer, burb with a solid front axle.If you can,get the spring plates, and u bolts as the ones from a corp. 10 bolt are different than ones from a dana 44 (Different axle tube size) but if you cant the ones you have can be made to work.Of course if you find a one ton 4wd grab the front axle (Dana 60) out from it if you can!
