72 K20 to 67 GMC?

Hi guys. I'm flirting with the idea of changing my 72 K20 nose to a 67 GMC. I tried searching but came up empty. Will I just need a new core support, fenders, and hood, (grille obviously too), or is it more involved.

Forget who's truck this is, but I love the look of the front end on this truck. Maybe it's just because it is black, but I really like how the hood has more of a bullet shape to it. If I did, can I use the same 72 trim? or do the new fender lines ruin that?
Anyone done this?

yep you'll need a diffrent hood, front fenders, radiator support, grill, and the bumper is diffrent to , i think. that black one looks like it might have the wrong bumper on it without the little cutouts for the park lights. maybe the 67-8 gmc's didnt use the bumper with the cutouts in it?

Re: 72 K20 to 67 GMC?

67/68 bGMC bumpers didn't have the cut outs... but the 72 bumper he already has has big holes for the turn signal lenses, so he would need it anyways.
Hood
both fenders
grill
core support
bumper
tailgate
The later trim will fit... but it'll look funny to a lot of people, but for most people, they wouldn't know anyways.I am removing all the lower trim from my 72 burb for this exact reason. (putting a 68 chevy nose on it)

Hey Captain, how`s it goin`?That will be awesome combined with the mechanicals you`ll be running. That`s actually a`68 truck, you know.No difference other than the marker lights and location of the GMC letters.`67 is smooth on hood w/letters stamped in grille.I think a`68 grille and`67 hood would look great in black(smooth).

Front bumper brackets are different too I think...71-72 Chevy clips is what I like the most on 4wds but I like the looks of that GMC.

Re: 72 K20 to 67 GMC?

As said above you can run the 71-72 upper and lower trim (after drilling new holes of course) but it will look funky. One of my friends has a '68 nose and later model upper/lower trim on his truck and it just looks weird....I'd either go with no trim at all or maybe 67-68 trim if you go that option. '67 GMC front clips do look awesome though.

Re: 72 K20 to 67 GMC?

I think the only problem with the look of 69-72 side mouldings would be those that are used to seeing 67/68s as made.I`ve seen solid paint trucks and it takes a double-take to pick up on it.It`s when you go with the contrasting side panel when it starts looking "off",IMO.Do you already have your moulding or do you just prefer that design?Personally (what out, taste police),I think GM got it right with the 67/68 side mouldings. They follow the bodyline compared to the newer style being a broken staight line.
