If the topside is solid enough you can spot weld the bolts in place and just hit them with the cut off wheel when your done.

Tighten them till they snap off, then replace with new.

Simple, fast and easy.

But why not just drop the tank?

Reread your post.
Pulling the wheel wells won't give access to the tank either.

Yeah it really is, they bite down into the floor and hold till they simply break.

Lots of frustration saved.

Re: Bed, wheel tub removal tips? gas tank removal.

Well I think the bottom line is sometimes I'm stupid .

All, yall are totally right the long story is I have a parts vehicle that is super clean. I was going to swap the backend off of it onto Crush because I have no title for this really clean '72 ( got it out of Juarez) and Crush'es bed is rotted where the PO let water sit under the original glued down floor mats. It is rusted at the rear and around the wheel tubs.

What I was trying to do is kill several birds with one stone. Including swapping the bed, pulling the tank and getting it vatted/swapped which ever one was more economical, starting work on the rear right spring (it's sprung and I was going to start looking at putting on a 4" lift).

What I needed to ask was a seperate question saying. If I don't pull the bed do yall have any tips for getting that tak out of there with the least amount of problems. Also at what point do you not vat a tank and just replace it. Last who can I get a quality replacement from if I need to.

Thanks all- Jason
