how to get traction...low buck
my buddy has a 383 stroker in his s10, and a shot of nitrous oxide, that thing gets dick all for traction, i think he is getting some better tires and traction bars, but what else could he do...i dont think his rear end is posi, so im sure that would help, he wants me to weld some weights to his frame rails behind his rear end. is that a good idea or just plain stupid, what do u guys gotta say on this one?

I would not weld any weight on the truck. There are other things I would try first.
If he don't have a posi, get one. Get a set of Cal trak traction bars. Get two E/T street tires. Set the front end up to where it is slightly higher then the backend, when sitting on level ground. Put a set of 90/10 shocks on the frontend. If possible move the fuel tank over the rear axle. Move the battery to the back of the truck. One thing to keep in mind when thinking about adding weight, for about every 100 pounds that you can get off the truck, you gain around .10th on E/T in 1/4 mile. Kind of defetting the purpose by adding weight. Sam

if he has leaf springs than ..yes traction bars..coils..no traction bars..posi is a must..good tires a must..also use a rpm switch for the N20...having it coming in too soon will over power the tires .. as stated b4..move the battery to the bed..and the fuel tank too. a stock truck will smoke a pegleg rear...so a posi and the proper gear ratio would probably be the first things I would do

An ignition retard will help to. I think MSD has an ignition box that will retard the timing for a preset time, that way you have less torque off the line, then once you are moving, it puts the timing back in and you have all the power back. That along with the aformentioned the RPM switch for the funny gas will meke it all much more consistant at the digs.

a set of coilovers would probably help tremendously. and definately need to upgrade the stock rear becuase that motor will probably grenade it shortly especially with the violence of the juice being put to it and if he puts slicks on it

I've seen the S-10 rears hold up in the 12's and on the street. They will take some abuse.
