Front axle moved after lift???
On my 72 swb I installed a 4" susp. lift and the front axle moved forward some and I am going to be replacing the 4" rough country lift with a set of 6" ezride springs hoping to go with a set of 39.5 iroks. What can I do about the axle moving forward? It has a 3" body lift and has 2 or 3" shackles in the front and flipped shackles in the rear. Will I be able to clear 39.5's???Also what about changing the driveshaft/axle yolk angle?dont they make shim's for that??

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
Is it possible that you had the springs on backwards? If I remember correctly, the center pin is offset to some degree.

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
I never had that problem.Definately not with the 6" EZrides I installed.I think Yukon Jack is onto something, there. Also,do you realize those 2"-3" shackle will only yield 1"-1 1/2" of lift, right? You`re only raising one end of the spring. Are you familiar with zero-rates from ORD?They lift and give options on centering the axle on the spring pack.

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
oh ok I see the zero rate blocks but i am not worried about the rear I'm worried about the front. i have the 6" spring I'm going to install and I'm going to leave the 2-3" shackle in the front and I have been told that it will push my axle forward?(i cant really tell too much the way it is now with the 4")I dont think it would be too safe putting those zero-rate 1" blocks in the front would it???

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
Those Zero Rates are designed for use up front. They are not considered blocks and are known as Zero Rate Springs.Check them out.I think you get 1".www.offroaddesign.com

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
Gotta tell ya, your post's are getting tough to follow.
Mutliples, delets and repost's, hard to keep up. If your axle moved forward, chances are the springs are installed incorrectly. Fairly common mistake to make. Swap em around and you should be fine. Check out this post several linked threads there, alot of good reading. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=280540 |

Here's one of your lift question post's stating that you deleted the other accidentally. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=280150 So that's two threads about it right there. Kinda falls into the "multiples and deletes" category doesn't it? That makes this thread the third one asking about the same question. In post #3 you once again state it's all about the lift. So that makes three threads you had going. Your new to the board (welcome) and we're here to try and help but ya gotta work with us a little. |

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
I think what vtblazer is encouraging you to do is to stay focused in each of your posts. This post for instance is about the front axle moving forward but then you jump into the "do you think I can clear 39.5's with a 3" body and 6" susp??" question. That question is being answered in your other thread in this subforum.
This creates a bit of a problem cause when we are trying to answer a question sometimes our answers build off of someone elses answer. Here we have that will it clear question again and it has been addressed pretty well in your other thread. We are all here to help but it helps us help you if the original post stays on the original subject. Plus, when someone else starts to research this similar issue, they might find they have multiple posts by one user that is on the same subject. That makes it harder for someone to search and hopefully get a consistent and sound answer to their question. Hope that makes some sense and helps you understand what vtblazer is asking of you.

Re: Front axle moved after lift???
Also, just a friendly reminder,it`s against the rules to double post. That would be posting one post following another consecutively w/o a response within minutes instead of hitting the "edit" button and adding your after thought to the post you just made.
It`s also against the rules to cross post. That`s where you start multiple threads on the same subject.Usually in seperate areas to gain more attention.I`m not saying you`ve done this one, exactly. Please don`t take this wrong. We`ll get you into shape here and are glad to.But,you`ll here from staff once they catch wind of this stuff.
