Post Newer tilt column install?

Has anyone ever installed a '81 or newer tilt column? I like the idea of having a locking steering wheel/gearshift lever. I know, I know.. GM columns are not exactly safe but there is virtually nothing that keeps a person from getting into our trucks as is. Plus I would like to install the GM cruise control, intermittant wipers into my truck at the same time.

How much work is involved in cutting one in? (excluding wiring)

It is possible, but a few things need to be fabbed, along the way. The newer column outer sleeve will need to be cut on an angle, to properly meet the 67-72 dash. Also, the windshield wiper motor will have to be swapped, as the newer controls won't work on the older motor. The locking column feature: I don;'t know if it can be made to work, as I completely disabled that bad boy, in my swap (I cringe at the thought of the column possibly locking up accidently, at speed!). This swap is "do-able", but an earlier column (73 to 78 or so) is much easier. steve
