Re: Alternator Brackets

why not get a stock one that doesn't use the manifold as a mount? I think all small block truck, 69 - 72 are only bolted to the head.

Re: Alternator Brackets

Mine is mounted with a stud through the water pump and a bolt into the exhaust manifold. If the bracket I have from Sumitt mounts over the headers, there is no way it will work, the alternator will sideways..... unless I put the pulley on my wheels......

I'll check out the one at autozone, I just don't want a chrome piece, I can always paint it....

70 stroker, that's a cool mount, but I have no holes in my heads to mount those brackets.

Re: Alternator Brackets

Thanks guys, I am not sure what I am going to go with but I appreciate the help. Right now I have it rigged up with a piece of angle iron attached to the power steering pump mounts and since I want to upgrade to ps I need to find another place to anchor to.

Re: Alternator Brackets

I used an Alan Grove Bracket for my A/C and Alt. set up. Going to change these out for a low mount set, they clear the hood with plenty of room, but I don't like the look of them up close together.

Re: Alternator Brackets

Your right, the stock bracket will not work. The mount I have HERE is actually only half of what I need. There is another "U" shape bracket that goes on top of that, the one I linked to uses the header bolts for mounting and the other piece bolts to that....

I'm putting in on tomorrow (actually later today), I'll post photos to help explain my mumble.....lol!
