Goin to look at a truck this afternoon...

It seems as though I have come down with a truck buying addiction... After I bought my 79, I promised myself "no more trucks", but lo and behold, I am going to look at another this afternoon. Here's the description of the truck:

81 Chevrolet longbox fleetside. Strong running 350 bored 30 over with approximately 100 000kms on it. High rise Edelbrock intake, carb was just rebuilt. Truck has a brand new set of tires, roll pan, new hood with scoop, new doors, and new tailgate. Does need cab corners and rockers, but these will be included with the truck. Other than that the body is in good shape.

I called the owner and the story is he is moving out to British Columbia in 5 days (this Friday), and can't take the truck with him. He was originally asking $1500, but told me he will take $700 firm for it, since he needs it gone ASAP. If it isn't sold by Wednesday he said he is going to take what parts he can off of it and scrap the rest. You guys think this sounds like a decent deal? I'll try and get some pictures of it up later today.

yes, that seems like a good deal, even if it does need cab corners and rockers.

sounds like a steal of a deal to me. these trucks are harder to find up north too. you could strip it to the frame and make twice your money back. i'd pay $700 for the motor / trans alone.

...you know, 80% of british columbians are from ontario.

Id buy it in a second if I had $700. Specially with that rebuilt engine and new tires

Re: Goin to look at a truck this afternoon...

Well I went and checked it out. I woulda snapped some pics but my camera battery went dead . The truck is in better shape than I was expecting. The only rust is in the cab corners, the rest of the body and frame are rust-free. The bedsides and floor do have the odd ding though. The interior is in fairly rough shape, ripped seat and pretty dirty. I am really torn over this truck. It's a decent truck for a decent price, but I really don't need and can't afford another project truck, since I have to save for university next year. He said if he doesn't sell it by Wednesday he is going to pull the hood, doors, and any other parts he can ship to BC, and have the rest (including the engine) crushed.
