Best New Hood Hinge?
I was about ready to place my order for new hood hinges so that my hood would close properly (sticks up in the back by the finder) and thought I would ask if there was something better then the LMC replacement ones?

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
I'm thinking that it would be the same as the LMC replacement. I was wondering if there was a step up from stock. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
I got some from LMC and spent about 6 months trying to get them adjusted right and never could. I took them to a body shop and they said no problem and they spent about 6 hours on it and could not get them right. Body shop bought some from the Chevy place and it was done in about 15 minutes.
LMC ones were not built correctly and I couldn't return them. Screwed again..... |

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
LMC parts are generally good, but are not genuine GM parts most of the time. Sometimes they give you the option of "OEM" parts, but you'll notice they're twice the price.
LMC gets a lot of their stuff from overseas, like most others. I'd check with GM and see if they're still available and for how much. Casey

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
Wow! I'm glad I asked!!!! I guess the GM dealer it is.
Rebuilding looks like the way to go. However, The last time I did any welding I was 14. That was 20 years ago. But if Anyone In Colorado wants to teach I'm will to learn. (been thinking about it for sometime)

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
Check some other vendors also. I think some other places sell the GM hinges at a lower price. I bought a set of genuine GM hinges from someplace but I can't remember now, maybe Brothers or Classic Industries, or ??? I will have to look.

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
Brothers has original GM hinges for 73-80 for $79.99 either side, may even be cheaper somewhere else, that is just the first place I looked.

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
The ones I got were no good and thought it was me. Waited too long to get it to a body shop and then I couldn't return them.

Re: Best New Hood Hinge?
If I only have one hinge that is Sprung would you recommend replacing just the one or would you do both at the same time?
And would you do the springs too?
