Rust removal from chrome
I have some small spots of surface rust appearing on the grill of my GMC. Is there a correct way to remove the rust without damaging the chrome? Once removed I'm sure that if I keep it polished it would prevent it from coming back. Any help is appreciated. Randy

The best way I have found is a SOS pad. Dont get carried away by pressing to hard and try to rub in a back and forth motion to prevent swirling. Then use a good polish.

There was a post a while back about a product someone used the worked good. I think it was in a spray bottle. I'll see if I can find the post.... LockDoc

Re: Rust removal from chrome
0000 steel wool and PB Blaster, WD40 works too! SOS pads are too coarse and will scratch chrome spray some on the rusty area and let it soak this is where PB works best if its on a vertical surface soak a rag and cover the rusty areas and then cover the soaked rag with saran wrap to hold the solvents in buff it off with the wool then a good chrome polish.

Re: Rust removal from chrome
coca cola and foil kicks a##! this stuff really works!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also navel jelly, wont harm chrome but will take all the rust off. i used it to clean up an old pan head chopper that sat outside for 25 years. it worked miracles!

Re: Rust removal from chrome
Thanks guys. I love the old "homegrown" ideas best. I'll give them a try and will report back.
