Newbie with a few questions (easy ones)
Just started a new project with my step son, it's a 1968 C10 lwb. Nice clean truck, and he has plenty of ideas for it. I've got a fairly well equiped shop and lots of experience with hot rods. Enough of that, now with the questions:
We are getting ready to pull the cab, just a general ideal of how much the cab weights (stripped). Also, he likes the custom grille that goes all the way across the front of the truck and hides the headlights behind the grille. Any info on these would be great. Thanks in advance |

the cab with nothing but front and back glass should be 500 pounds or so...the firewall is the bulk of that weight. 2 healthy guys can carry one around and set it down easily... but I don't recomend it.

Re: Newbie with a few questions (easy ones)
Hello,
First....Welcome to the forum from NC.... Not sure how much the cab weighs, but you might want to take a look at this handy little jig (see thread)....I think it took me like 4 guys and a case of beer to get mine off!!!.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=219353 Not sure on the grill either, but maybe try some of the board vendors...I'm still new here too....they are very knowledgable and helpful too... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showgroups.php Good luck and post some pics of the project when you get a chance!!! Have fun!!!

Re: Newbie with a few questions (easy ones)
Thanks for the info, I have found several things from the FAQ section that we are planning. I'm not going to try to man lift the cab, have already picked up the metal to make one of the handy cherry picker mods shown in the forums. I have a son and daughter of my own, neither one of them showed any interest in cars / trucks, so when my step son wanted to build his first project, I jumped on it. Somewhere down the road he will thank me, plus it will keep a few more from the crusher.
