Unhappy WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

Ok guys I hate to even consider it but I may need to sell my truck. A 1972 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside with one re-paint. A very good driver, I was going to do a frame off restoration but it may not happen. I am stilll keeping the '72 Blazer since I have two boys and my wife. The reason I am selling is I have my own company and this time of year Uncle Sam loves me. One re-paint, original engine installed in 1974 under factory warranty (as I was told). I am the 3rd owner, has A/C and is a true Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside. If I am to sell, I would rather someone from the board buy it instead or evilbay. Needs carpet and has little rust, runs great. What do all of you think she is worth, I hate to do it but it may need to happen. One more thing, I have a used NOS left side fender (decent shape) to replace the existing sm tire carrier one if someone wants to switch it out. Thanks.

wow ... never seen a stepside Super ... I'd say it's worth a bit more than the fleet simply because of its rarity.

Re: WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

these type of threads are always difficult for me, i mean, i know what i think a good price would be around here, but if you post it, you either take the chance of ticking off the owner for being much lower than they think it is worth, or getting jumped all over by other guys on here for being too high.

But my stab at it would be anywhere above 10K. I like the fact that it is a cheyenne super step side, but i think the rarety of it will scare some off as they might feel like they are being "took" since they haven't seen any of these around.

Good luck and hope you can keep her
David

How much time are you lookin`at for tax evation?I`d keep it.lol
I think you need to post the words,"I can`t be insulted."Then,you`ll get some opinions.If I`ll be bold and start it off.My name ain`t Kelly,but I`d say $7,500.It looks good,pretty unusual,unrestored...

Re: WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

Thanks griesel, I understand, many people are hesitant to give out numbers. I do have thick skin as my wife points out I don't get insulted if someone says $3K, $4K $7K etc... It is a nice truck and good driver and kind of rare. It seems collector cars/trucks keep going up in price while my wifes '02 Tahoe keeps going down. Thanks for your words, just wanted to know some numbers around the country. Anyone else? As I said I don't get insulted by low numbers, just looking at the market. Thanks Special-K I just posted as you did I CAN'T BE INSULTED Good number, thanks.

Re: WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

Don't sell it ---- You'll regret it.

Go to your bank, borrow enough money to pay the taxman with, and collateraize the loan with the truck title. Make payments, just like you bought a vehicle, only you're paying for what you already own. If you've got the cashflow in your business to cover the loan payments with, at least you've still got the truck.

If you have a friendly banker with an antique-vehicle value book, it'll scare you what these things are shown as "worth" in their book.

I'll bet you the collector-car book value will be $ 15 - 20 K or more.

I know I probably would sell mine for what the $$$ my banker said it was worth, and it's not as clean as yours is.
.................................................................

Now - a for-what-it's worth addition to the post:

Not my place to advise you, but here's some unsolicited advice nonetheless, from someone who's been 100 % self-employed for about 30 years now: Every time you get paid -- EVERY TIME - -discipline yourself to deposit 25 % of whatever you get into a money market account & forget it's there.

NEVER touch it, except at tax time - it's not really yours, anyway.

Sounds dopey, but no kidding: It's the price we pay, to get to live in the land of the free & the home of the brave ............

At tax time, there's always plenty enough in that account to pay Uncle Sam his due, and more than just occasionally, there's even some nice "leftovers," too.

I learned this trick from a self-employed "old guy," like I am now, many-many years ago.

It's tough to do, & sometimes it's almost impossible, but it works. Way-way harder to do than to suffer the usual "withholding" bite out of your paycheck in a "regular wages job."

Re: WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

68 Shortstep thanks for the words and the advice, I appreciate it. Just talking about selling her makes me regret it I don't like debt and we are debt free. I just bought a CTS-V, nice car with the Z06 Corvette engine. Its a safe car with my two young boys and wife. Wife says ok buy the CTS-V, (wow what a car, did 120 mph the other day with no one around the highway and it kept pulling) but please sell one vehicle, we have too many cars. Maybe I am coming on here to have you guys STOP me from selling her. I have always loved the stepsides, not to mention the Cheyenne Super. Again thanks again for your self employment tips. I had a good $$$ year in 2007. Atleast its a good worry. I'll sleep on selling her.

Re: WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

I'd borrow for the tax guy then make sure I paid the note and kept enough for next year.I mean "It's only money, right?" But that is your truck,it's in a whole nuther catagory.
WDYM Too many cars. Not a possibility.

Talking Re: WIW 72 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside may need to sell mine

Just fill out anyone of the hundreds of Credit card offers you might get in mail a day, keep the line of credit unscured, and tell Chase to take a flying leap. If your driving an old Chevy your not that worried about credit scores to begin with. Pretty sure Cash got you here, and will take you into the future.

just my 2 cents that i took from take a penny tray.
