I would like to know what size cam you guys think would be a good size to go with in a daily driver that has a GM Goodwrench 350 crate with 250 hp. and 350 ft. lbs. of torque in it. I was looking for a cam that would give me that lopey idle but didn't want to go with something too extreme since it will be driven daily. I emailed Summit Racing about it and they told me that this cam would be good for what I was wanting. What are your guys thoughts on this cam and will it give me enough of that lopey idle sound?

What you describe is exactly what the Thumpr cams from CompCams are about. Wasting power, gas and driveability for noise, but if that's your bag then these are your cams. The 93438649 heads on your 250 HP crate are lift-limited to .475...so you'd be right there on the hydraulic flat-tappet version at .479/.465 - measure carefully

I am a BBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGG fan of the old 350hp 327 cam from gm in a street chevy. It makes good power from idle to red line, has a nice idle ( although it may not lope as much as you want ) and is the same cam I believe that is used in the 290 HP gm goodwrench motor

I think that cam is to large for a daily driver.
Look for something that works from 1500 and up.
Call Steve @ Lunati he can offer some sound advice.

The 290HP crate motor has a different cam, the 350hp 350 cam, which is slightly larger than the 327/350 cam. And FWIW, I ran the 327/350 cam in a 350 and was somewhat disappointed. To work it's best, that cam really needs more compression than modern unleaded 93 allows.

I'm running the 600101 in my 68 and i'm liking it. Nice sound at idle, decent performance yet still good for daily driving.

Is yours a Voodoo series?, if so I think you meant 60101.
I'm going to be using the next one larger in my truck 60102 in my 383. But they
say that the stroker will act milder than a 350 with the same cam.

I have the same engine with a COMPCAMS XE262. I LOVE it. It was the biggest cam they recommended with stock springs. The idle is just enough to know there's something there, but isn't too radical to drive on the street. It pulls real hard from about 2000-5000 rpm. I currently have a TH350 trans with a 3.73 gear. It likes the low gears, but I'm going to a 3.42 gear soon.

check out the comp cams extreme line very nice if you get the complete kit, put the .477/.480 kit in a mild 350 sounded very good and made good power in a 87 k10 with 35" tires and 3.73s
