i was wondering what i should do i live in an apartment and was thinking of rattle canning the underside of my truck on a non windy day duh and taping everything off i was wondering what should i do as prep or is this just stupid lol help me out i just hate the look under there and with my back end up in the air alittle i hate it

I would suggest going to a shopping center parking lot and find a spot with little traffic to do your painting.

As far as prep goes, the cleaner you get it the better it will look. If you don't have the time or tools to get the rust off, use brush on paint. This will cover better than spray on and help hide the imperfections.

It's going to be tight under the truck while spray painting. Lots of fumes and particulates. A respirator will be needed.

Also, it will be difficult to do in a parking lot. People will see you with a gas mask or similar and wonder if you're spraying harmful stuff and turn you in. You know how everyone is nervous these days...

If you know anyone that lives outside the city, this would help.

But, the biggest problem I see is that if you don't get rid of all the rust and road grime first, it may come back at you from under the paint and you won't know it.

rust wise my truck is amazingly clean i dont know how po lived in utah think he must have kept it in a barn. but i was thinking about pressure washing the grime off then scrubbing with a brush and rinsing again mean while not drive it at all and i will let it dry for a few days to make sure all the water is out. what spray paint should i use

The cleaner the better.I suggest not doing it in your apt. parking lot.The overspray may cause trouble with the neighbors and you live really close.A parking lot at a park could be a solution.You can play frisbee while it dries(take a friend,cause you'll look really stupid playing frisbee alone

Use "Zero Rust" or product like it as there are quite a few to choose from. It is black and you can apply it with brush or spray it on. Top coat only if you want to as it is not manditory. Your frame is now clean and protected. I top coated with a satin black to give a little brighter finish.
