77 front rotor removal???

I need to change the studs on my front driver side wheel, and i cant get the rotor off. I took the allen heads out and took the locking part itself out, but now i have this spindle nut socket and cant get the nut to break loose? anyone have pics or a step by step on how to do this?? thanks

i got the snapring out, then the wire ring around the inside and the spring and gear came out. Now i have this nut socket and when i try to break it loose it i cant budge it and its just ruining the spindle nut. any pics? please help lol

also, the image on autozones website doesnt look like mine. Mines different, all that came out after the snapring was a big spring and a gear. theres still a little gear and maybe another snapring deep inside, but i tryed to get it off for 20 mins and couldnt.

It sounds like you have the "Spicer" style lock-outs. They are different than the pics in the link above. If you do have the inner gear that is seperate from the outer, there is a snap-ring that holds it to the axle. This has to be removed before you can take the outer spindle nut off. These nuts can be very difficult to remove, especially if it hasn't been off for a long time. A long breaker bar should get it though.

Man, those are some crummy directions in that link. Anyone that doesn't need directions will see many things wrong with them...and for those who do need them, there is not enough information there.

This would make for a nice article for the FAQ area. I just don't have access to a straight axle 4x4 right now....I'll have to look into that. Maybe we can work out something like this at the meet this summer?

so after i remove the first gear theres another snap ring deep inside the hub that holds the spindle nut on? thanks for the help guys!
