Dana decode and repair
Anyone know of good sites that will decode the stamping on Dana axles, and casting numbers on Dana carriers?
I've got a Dana 60 front from a '90 Dodge, and a Dana 70 rear from the same pickup that I want to fix up and put under the '68. I also have a Power Lock unit from an unknown axle/pickup. I'd like to know if the locker will work in either axle, and for what gear-ratio range the carrier is for. How about any sites that have overhaul information on the Dana Power Lock units, and on the axles?

Frustrating buying used stuff. Dana shipped ALL of its axles with ID tags attached to the cover bolts, usually two of them. It will list the gear ratio and a part number. With that part number it is possible to learn all about the axle including: gears, locker/limited slip, OEM application, housing tube thickness, etc.

I have those tags and numbers. Where do I decode the numbers? I know the gear ratio is 3.54:1.

Give this a shot, or maybe you can find a link from there.

Try this, but it is usually easier to call a truck parts supplier and have them decode for you. This Dana site lacks info on the older stuff, but you might score on the axles you have.
