Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Rob i think if was to launch this truck i would break i lot of stuff (teeth)the suspension is so stiff i may switch the springs and depending on the shocks, i have found maybe for the rear some big tall reservoir shocks(fox) will see

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
That's what I was thinking too, Tony. Gotta like that gasser straight axle look, although on a truck it's different! Thanks for showing us what you're up to Dino!

You gonna bubble out the front fenders now pre-runner style or what ?? What you planning for the rear ?? Flip the axle and some longer coils or what ?? Way cool !!!

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
2.5 or 3" coil-overs up front would make a world of difference. Did I hear long travel 4 link rear?
Actually there are some awesome leaf spring kits that don't totally break the bank, and still achieve 15+ inches of travel! Here is my daily driver, been this way for around 5+ years now-2001 2wd Silverado-Deaver long travel rear leaf's, 4" fabricated knuckles, some crappy coils, and Fabtech upper arms. New trucks aren't built like old ones, I'm on front hub/bearing assembly number 7($300+ each). FIberglass fenders and bedsides, self built bumper. Oh yea, and plan on spending at least 1k per desert trip for replacement parts! Last edited by PrerunnerRob; 03-11-2008 at 09:56 AM. |

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
hey dino:I have an idea for you...
this truck is going to be like a baja racer, right? so you are going to need big wheelwells for lots of clearance. how about using some fenders off a 2 ton, they should bolt right on , and would look stock. then maybe cut up another pair, for the fleet bed... |

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
You need a sweet front bumper!
I built this several years ago while I was learning basic fab stuff, it was my second attempt at a front bumper, my truck being the first. Getting respect from the guy I was building it for while I had my back turned F'ing F-rds! Notice the difference in frame rail size! |

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Dont mind the garbage can and clamp, "someone" forgot to order mounting tabs Finished product! This was all completed in less then 8 hours, all with scrap laying around the garage, except for the tubing. |
