lube day

today was the yearly big lube day, not talking about fluids, rather all the things the need lubrication armed with wd40, graphite, witegreese spay, and a can of rubber undercoating i attack all rust and squeaks lol

Its amazing how well the hood closes when you lube up the springs and latch. I slamed it 2 times today forgetting that it doesnt need much force to close.

Window regulators and door lock parts work smother, I even stick the nozzle tub in the key hole and give a squirt. I do try to coat the inside of the door metal with wd40 as an anti rust deal. not sure if it works but i like to coat every thing i can.

I had the truck zbarted and undercoated last year, so this year all it takes is a can of undercoating. Just hit the rock chipped areas. there were several places that needed undercoating thanks the new exhaust. they had some rust starting already!

Oh ya, pull out your speedometer cable, just the inside part. Mine had been starting to squeak a bit. drove me nuts. lube the hell out of it, wipe the excess and put it back in. no more noise! And this prolongs the life of the cable!

same goes for the wiper stuff, you can see all the pivot points though the cowl. the wiper isnt near as loud now. amazing lol

tailgate parts, door hinges, battery connections, carb linkage, hell if it moves, i lube it.

one last thing i like to do is put a coat of wd40 on the brake booster and other like parts to keep them from rusting. just a light coat. i figure its like a gun, a film of oil prevents rust. working so far!

really dont know the point of this post, just felt like sharing lol.
any other lube points or products you all like? im a bit overboard on mantainence but its better im that way than to neglect the old girl

oh ya one more tip. castorl super clean. best stuff sence sliced bread. i use it to wash greesy close, use it with a bit of lava soap for the best hand cleaner underthe sun (even gets off undercoating from hands, easy). i love this stuff, buy it by the gallon

dam i thought at least a few people would make fun of me.. no more lube places or ideas?

one more thing i have noticed about the hood. you know when you try and open it, you pull the handle and it pops up a bit. then you have the keep pulling the handle and lift the hood up free of the lock? not anymore. i just hit the handle and it pops up just clear of the lock. handy as hell when you only have one hand free.

I'm just sure that when I recheck this post, someone will have posted a pic of the ol' a$$ lube! I see this has ya pretty worked up, come on over and take care of my truck while your at it! Joking aside, sounds like wise preventative maintenance to me.
