I want to install a 700r4 behind my 350 engine with an edelbrock carb.
Before i do this i am gathering all the parts needed.
Now i have two questions. First, what would be the length of the tv cable i need. I have looked everywhere but i can't find any answers on that, there are many different lengths. Second, what type of transmission mount is best to use. I am making my own crossmember.

The best thing that has worked for me was a stock TV cable that can be found at any dealership. They are meant for the trans and easy to adjust. I tried an aftermarket universal one and it never wanted to stay adjusted right. hope this helps, cant really see it in the pic but it was the closest thing i had, sorry

My idea is indeed to order a stock cable but there are so many different lengths.
I need some more parts from rockauto so that is where i would like to order the cable.

Not sure of the lenth, but it should be about the same as the TH350. I know last time I got one, they had to give me a corvette one, but I don't know the length.

If you are making a parts list add this TCI® 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body it will keep you from having low pressure from having the TV cable slightly off

Also would suggest you get the tranny shop to set it up for you so you don't blow it up. Don't ask me how I know this....

You can got the constant pressure valve body route or get a TV system from bowtie overdrives. It includes the linkages for the side of your edelbrock carb and keeps the geometry correct. The length of TV cable is not that important as long as it is not stretched at all and doesn't have so much slack that it gets in the way of any moving parts. My truck's PO rigged up some home made crap and it never worked right because the geometry was wrong. There has to be the right amount of cable pulled out at the right time to make it work right. These things can go south in a hurry if they are wrong but if they are set up right it will make driving these trucks so much better.

I have found a site that has exact geometry for the bracket on the carb.
That wont be a problem to make. I have seen the bowtie overdriver kits and they are verry nice. Only the price is not that nice, that is why i want to make my own bracket. I think i will order a 39 inch long cable.

My other project needs to much money.

With the TCI kit you don't have to go through all the trouble in trying to set the cable just right to keep it from messing up the trans. The valve body makes it to where the only thing the TV cable is for is to adjust the shift points. The bowtie overdrives kit keeps it where the TV cable adjusts the shift points and what pressure the transmission is at.
