Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

IMHO.... the 67-8 Cowl hoods were not done to accectuate the body lines correctly. If the hood had a curve where the cowl portion begins to rise from the hood, say like a 1st gen Camaro cowl hood, then it would be more in character with the original body lines. Again IMO- I think the cowl hood on a 67-8 looks "forced."

Randy- in the end it's your truck. You know what is best for YOUR tastes.

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

When I thought about doing this thread I was sitting there wondering how long it would be before the visor came up.LIZ............ I have to have the visor. I seen one a very long time ago and they grew on me. Plus they keep the insides cooler (sun out). I love it all.

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

I'm in agreeance with Liz... with the visor I would keep the cowl hood. Otherwise I would say throw on an original hood.

Good luck with the decision Randy!

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

I like the cowl hoods but wished they came in a little larger version. I know they dont seem functional but the frontal area in frt of the windshield provides clean air and is why Nascar still uses a cowl style pickup air cleaner to draw air from the area in frt of the windshield.

My cowl scoop is 4" and as someone said looks like a "poser" but I will make sure I have a sealed pan and an air cleaner underneath feeding from the fresh air once its all said and done.

I thought about that, but if I saw it, knowing my dumb ass, I'd pobably think they were trying to steal my truck because their 69-72 is uglier

(I actually like the front end on the 69-70, btw, just no respect for the 71-72's! Which is HILARIOUS because the black 72 in the movie "dazed and confused" is what made me want a 67-72 in the first place!!! Prior to that I only liked the 47-55s!)

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

Here we go! I like them all but prefer the '67-'68 frontends, thats why I'm changing both of mine to '68. I won't be in the mob with the pitchfork people. To each his own.

The cowl hood I put on my Camaro is built to be functional, there is an aircleaner made for it and also an operational butterfly at the air intake of the hood. It has given be the idea to copy the work onto my truck hood.

I vote for the original hood, but your truck looks awesome with either.

Re: Cowl hood flew off.........

Leave it.It looks right with the "Big" look and "Custom" look you have going on.Just start slowly building another with all the changes you think of doing to this truck.
