Engine stand bolts
What size,length and grade of bolts would you use for a engine stand? Its the 1000 pound version from harbor freight.

I would definitely use grade 8. I used shoulder bolts that have a larger diameter than the threaded end so it would be a better fit going through the
round mounting points. I hope I explanned that ok. |

ehhh... 4 grade 5 bolts have enough sheer strength to hold your engine, but use grade 8 if you have 'em. I just so happened to have some Caterpillar grade 10.9's that fit my stand perfectly!

The cost difference between grade 8 and 5 is far less than the cost of a new foot.
The bolts should thread in as far as they can without bottoming, and/or as far in as the original bolts used in the holes. Maybe those were dumb answers... |
