BFG MT T/A km opinions
I am having a lot of trouble finding the tires I want, and I think I will likely have to go with the BFG MT's and I wanted to hear from others as to what their opinion was on these tires......I am looking to keep the tires tall and skinny to poss. help fuel economy a bit, but I think with the tread design of these tires, I am pretty much going to be a wash at best. How have others done mpg wise with these tires?
I have read that people can get 40k+ miles on these tires, but is that with usable tread still on the tires, or am I pretty much running on slicks after 20k? Has anyone had these tires siped, and where do you go to get this done?

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
basically any M/t tire is gonna lower ur mileage...why not get an all terrain ?.. the m/t's pulled pretty well in the south texas mud when i tried out my friends blazer but i would still prefer sum Mickey thompsons cuz of all the side armor running down the sidewalls. helps u out of sum bad situations.

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
i have them on all of my trucks, and get along pretty good. i also hear of people getting 30-40k out of them, and i have never got any where close to that many miles, but i think that those people just run around town, and never drive any gravel roads as i do. If i get 20-22 k i am very happy. I don't think you can go wrong with them
good luck David

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
yep there a good tire, i had a few sets on a diesel, just make sure you rotate them often. but other than that they are nice , but i have switched over to the all terrian the ride is so much better and the wear alot better, so if your not gonna be off road alot that may be a option for ya good luck

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
I like the AT's but have never really been into hard off-roading, I have heard that AT's like to sling little rocks that stick in the tread though...

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
In my experience they are a loud tire on the road. I've had Super Swamper SSR's in the same size ( 35x12.50 ) and my currnet MTZ's, which are 3" wider ( 15.50 ) and the BFG's were the loudest of the 3. It sounds like you do a fair amount of on road driveing so it might be something to consider.

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
Have you looked at the Toyo open country M/T? The're a good looking tire, siped for winter and I've heard of guys getting over 50K miles on them. All the oilfield guys around here run 'em.
Here's my Blazer with the Toyo's. (33x10.5x16) I sold the Blazer shortly after the tires were put on, so I don't know how they wore. They were amazingly quiet for an M/T.

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
toyo open country mt's are fantastic. i have them on my 3/4 ton dodge diesel. They wear like iron. Ive put 40K on them and they were on the truck when i bought it. They easily have 50 or 60K on them and about need replaced now.
they work ok in the mud and snow. Nothing like a swamper but good for a street tire.

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
I have bought alot of tires over the years. I have been completely satisfied with my Toyo's. Good looking and wear well. Quiet ride. Mine are 35's stuffed under a 4" suspension and 3" body lift. Powered by a 383 stroker 400 h.p.

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
i got 285 under my truck. the bfg ride better then the toyo's. the toyos's are heavy. i have been running bfg tires for 25 years never had a flat. the toyo's are 10 ply and harder to balance.

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
Gotta agree with ya...the BFG's are a great tire. I'm only 18 and I've been running them on my 2wd pickup since I've been driving, ran over a nail the other day and pulled it out... no leakage! As long as you rotate them they'll wear pretty good, that's also including some healthy one tire fires in the high school parking lot, haha

Re: BFG MT T/A km opinions
The Toyos won`t last any longer than BFGs.The BFGs typically give 40-50 thousand miles, also.I`ve known guys to run the M/Ts cross-country and back and still get that kind of miles from them. They are a high-mile compound. Not nearly as soft as Gateway or Interco tires.Yet,they perform well off road considering their on-road benefits.
