How to test if a tach is good
I have a 7k rpm tack that looks like the board is fried, is there any way of testing it without hooking it up? My truck is disasembled so, hard wiring it to a engine is not an option. Would an ohm meter work or ?

I don't know of an easy way to test a tach. The ohm meter will check continuity but since the tach receives electrical "impulses" from the distributor, you would need a piece of equipment that generates these "impulses".
Do you have another truck or car that you could temporarily hook the tach up to? Jim
