getting ready for a motor too
well i got my truck back from the transmission shop on thursday and the truck shifts great. but i noticed that in the exhaust pipe is a coating of black oil and it seems to be coming out of the tip and coating the edge of the tailpipe . Im also noticing more smoke on startup and some while driving so im guessing the old tired 305 is on its way out guess its time to start saving up for a motor
Someone said that its possible the modulator was bad on the old trans and it could have been sucking tranny fluid up the vacuum line and burning it in the tranny and to watch all the fluids for a while is that possible? any ideas or thoughts? 82 c10 lwb 305/th350

Re: getting ready for a motor too
I have seen that happen before, but it should go away with the new transmission unless he re-used the old modulator. If it keeps smoking, and it isn't the original modulator, that's probably not the problem.
