I know..another dumb drop question

Well, after talking to, and having many of you reply to my earlier post, I started working on my truck today.

I am, however, debating myself about installing my air-ride.

I already have the big notch done, but.....

BTW< I did search and didn't find my answer.

IF I don't want to go disk brakes, and don't want the expense of drop spindles....
How low can I get the front just going static??

I already made my own 2" drop blocks for the rear, and had new ubolts made. So I know I can go 6" drop spings no problem.

But I want to know how low the front can go just using the stock frontend?

Pics would be a big help.

BTW, it's on a 64 short/fleet

I may just shelve all my air-ride stuff, or sell it...who knows.

OK, speak to me

Springs: 3"
Crosmember pankake: up to 2"?
Frame Z: up to 4"?

It depends on how far you're willing to go. Why not use the bags?

If need be, you can always cut and relocate the lower a-arm's ball joint area (raise it up) and gusset.

But, without bags, you'd have to keep it off the crossmember.

Just curious as to why you are using blocks on the rear, do you have rear coils? Don't remember much may be totally wrong but as a kid when i used blocks always made it ride bouncy seemed.

You could probably only lower the "stock" front end 3". With mods you could get more, but why not just bag it?

If you block the rear, you don't have an issue with the trailing arm to frame issue as soon, but you will eventually.

Re: I know..another dumb drop question

The front end will go all the way down until you touch the front controll arm mounts on the ground. I was able to pull this off with 2.5" spindles and a 28" tall tire. Dropmember would allow you to lay the rocker on the ground, but thats opening a whole new can of worms.

Lowering blocks do not cause a bouncy ride.

Cool Re: I know..another dumb drop question

It was a strickly a " Just faster and easier to get backtogether" reasoning for skipping the air-ride and throwing in 4 new coils and being done.

I'm having a hard enough time getting myself into the garage to do anything. Just thought maybe that was the way to go.

Just for ****sandgiggles, how low will the front go with stock frontend and bags?

I bought the upper plates from SD, and I have the material to make a lower plate, not cup, to go on lower CA.

Show me pics of bagged, without drop spindle, stock frontends??!! PLEASE

Then maybe I can talk myself into going out there.

BTW, with all my current job, house etc troubles, I somehow committed myself to buying a clean 54 Chevy Belair 2dr sedan project...

I need that like I need a hole in my head. But it's not often you find a super clean 54. And that's on my top5 list of favorite cars.
I don't even know where I'm going to put it. Most likely a storage building.

Anyway, pics of stock bagged frontends please
