All New "How To" section in our website!!
In an effort to provide a full service website, we have added a "How To" section to our website to help our fellow enthusiest with the restoration of their projects. We would like to give a special thanks to tennman and ebfabman for providing us with their contributions to help to develope the pages we have listed so far. We have the tennman's Behind the side marker, gas filler neck conversion and ebfabman's right front fender tip repair there. Here is a link:

The info given by tennman needs to be corrected. The exact year S10 filler tube used needs to be given, because all the S10 filler tubes I looked at were 2" and would not work as the filler hose will not stretch to fit that large a filler diameter. He stated to me in an email that the filler tube he had was 1 3/8, and an exact year would be much more helpful. Wasted time and money at the yard are not supposed to be the result of a how to section. Also a note should be made on the page stating that Danny's truck has a 2" body lift, making the installation on his truck rther easy, while us 2wd owners have one he!! of a time fitting the hoses in a manner that they will flow well. I'm not trying to be an ass, but incomplete info cost me a week of time, and $50. And I know of atleast one other board member who is all finished except for the plumbing issue and even has his filler neck in place. Now he is probably going to have to pull the filler tube and get a different of the proper diameter to finish the job properly. Also, the 67-69 beds do not have enough of a lip behind the side marker light to screw the filler door to, as the 70-72 beds do, and this is another problem I encountered when I did the install. More detailed info is needed before more people have as much trouble as I did.

Thanks guys, We are trying to make restoration as painless as possible.
my new 72, Sorry to hear that you are having as much trouble as you are having. Customizing is never an easy job, however we are trying to make it as easy as possible. We have published the behind the side marker light gas filler customization with the best information given to us and I am sure that each and every job will require something different. Wether it is proceedural or parts. However it is still a good foundation and gives direction as to how to do it. We will strive to improve any eliment of our site, as this is the commitment we have made to ourselves. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Yes, I probly will add it.... I talked to ebfabman today.. Great guy!! has a lot of good ideas too!! I wanted to make sure that he didn't mind me using his talents to improve our site.. He told me to go ahead and use whatever I needed to, he doesn't mind. It just goes to show you the type of carictor that he has.. It would seem that these trucks bring out the best in all of us... The trouble that I HAD, was the result of innaccurate information given on your website. I am not saying that you intentionally posted project specific info without a warning to those who read it, I am just saying that the info you were given is not complete. I fixed the issues Iwas having, and would not have had them if the info given on your site was complete and accurate. I feel that I could have found the proper items for the install alot easier without ever seeing the how to on your site. Regardless, it is an innaccurate how to and should be revised before more people try to follow it and encounter it's flaws first hand as I did.

Well they need to be submitted to me... wehepp@attbi.com The submition would need to be as complete as possible, and have comprehensive instructions with pictures to illistrate the instruction. A lot of the stuff I can give the instruction for, but a lot od stuff I can't also.
my new 72, I have edited the page that has the behind the side marker filler neck install to the differen't sizes of filler necks that GM offered and added a disclaimer to my site also. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Thank you Wes, that is all I wanted for those who look at the site in the future, so they will not have the same issues as I and some others have had.

As long as we drive old trucks, we also need to know how to maintain them and modifiy them, if that is what is desired. I have a mountain of magazines that are retained because there is an article in a given issue that is of interest, regardless of the reason.
A clearing house of info is a plus, whereever it is and however it is accessed. I thank all of you have have the talent and expertise to accomplish those modifications and choose to share it with us. I only wish I knew how to take your info from your website and make it fit my printer paper. I am sure that it is a problem with my setup...which I'll figure out. Again, I thank you and am sure that many others do, or will.
