Emergency Brake Removal
I'm trying to get the emergency brake taken out and wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly. There are two bolt going through the firewall that appear to be almost like wheel studs with splines on the shaft. I got both nuts off and the screw on the dash and when I tried tapping the firewall bolts out they didn't want to budge. How much of a BFH can I use on these without causing any damage and is this the correct method?
I'm attaching a photo of my setup in case there are different kinds out there.

Should not require that much force. There is usually a screw holding the front part of the bracket to the dash's lower lip where the e-brake release handle is. If that is removed, you should be able to pull the bracket sideways towards the column to get it out from under the dash. You will want to unhook your cable from the bracket first.

They must be froze because mine came right out after taking those two nuts off. I would put nuts back on them before tapping them with a hammer to protect the threads if you are going to resuse it.
