Re: Oil line to gauge
If you want to stay original, I believe it is an 1/8 line although I can't say what size fittings it uses. I do recall I couldn't find the pieces parts in the usual places (lowes Auto Zone etc.) .Kinda unusual setup I think . I wound up using a used line from another truck due to the hassle factor. I now they repop them these days. Thats what I'd do.

Re: Oil line to gauge
go to a reputable auto parts store and buy one of the plastic tube oil line kits. they have all of the right stuff.

Re: Oil line to gauge
The oil line is 1/8" and the nut is a male thread with the brass ferrule. Most oil line kits have the female thread nut. Not sure of the size of the nut. I suppose if you ask for the 1/8" male thread line nut & ferrule, you'll get what you need. Maybe NAPA?? I dunno.

Re: Oil line to gauge
Copper tubing will fatigue crack from vibration. Plastic won't. That's why they started using it. the plastic will outlast the copper hands down!

Re: Oil line to gauge
yep, all mine still have the original lines in them.
72 sub 72 blazer 67 truck. no problems with them. i've known 3 people that have installed plastic lines and 2 of them have broke while driving. makes a mess. not worth my trouble. Dwayne

Re: Oil line to gauge
Brake lines in these old rigs appear to be copper also...............but they are steel just like your oil pressure gauge line, and they copper coat to prevent corrosion!

Re: Oil line to gauge
my 1905 house has old copper pipes, and they havnt cracked yet. and i see them shake all the time when the water is shut on and off.
and wouldnt it make more sence to coat the inside of the brake lines with copper to? thats where the corrosion starts |
