Re: Just Got the Cab Back From Media Blaster Need Help Please
befor worrying too much about patch panels i'd get the primer on that cab B4 it rusts again
the key to body work and working metal is to stop talkin and pick up a piece of metal and start hackin and wackin it to do what you want it to do/ try and outsmart it

Re: Just Got the Cab Back From Media Blaster Need Help Please
Ace That is EXACTLY what the top of my cab looks like, both sides. I am interested in help of any kind as I have never tackled a repair as such as this. Are there parts available for this?

How long do i have before it starts to rust again? I was thinking it would take me a couple of weeks to get it all fixed

Not sure how much of the top you want and I'm not sure what that kind of thing would sell for. $40-$50 ??
On a second note there are metal prep/rust solutions that you can spray on (real thin liquid stuff) let dry and it will protect bare metal for up to a year or so if I recall. It may be worth looking into until your ready to paint.

here is one product that comes to mind- http://www.krudkutter.com/rustmildewproducts.asp
click on "the must for rust" stuff, it removes rust but also is a rust inhibiter and a prep wash for before paint. You can find it at home depot or lowes I think. Another one would be captain lees metal prep.

Re: Just Got the Cab Back From Media Blaster Need Help Please
not only is it a rediculous mess, and the abrasive material is expensive... ive found the cheap 100- some dollar harbor freight or similar sandblasters are quiter frustrating to operate. you need a BIG air compressor, with alot of volume, and you need to mess with the valves all the time and its just a real PITA

A patch panel on top of the cab is one thing, but cutting the structure is something else. |

I've been hearing a lot about Picklex 20 rust inhibitor. Here's a link to more info... http://www.picklex20.com/1142290.html
It sounds good, any users out there?

rapid strip disc for the paint and a wire wheel for the gutter. rapid strip discs are a lot like 3m roloc discs

Re: Just Got the Cab Back From Media Blaster Need Help Please
sounds like you got a smoken deal on the cab getting blasted. looks like a lot of work. just take your time and practice making the bends with some scrap metal. youd be surprised how easy it is when you start trying it. good luck.
