Voltage rebulator?

What causes lights to flicker lightly when the engine is cold? Once it warms up, it seems to go away, or at least I don't seem to notice it after it warms up. Seems like I remember something about a defective voltage regulator causing this. Any help?

I would start with a check of all ground cables and battery connections first. Make sure they have a clean and tight connection and the cables in good shape. Also, check the alternator connectors and belt.

If all that is good, then maybe start with voltage regulator, battery and/or alternator problems.

my nova did that real bad then switched over to an si internal regulator and viola nice and steady.. brighter too

I recently replaced the battery, but all the connections are tight. I replaced the alternator and voltage regulator about 3 yrs ago. I'll check the belt. It doesn't do it all the time, it's intermittent.
Redhead, to change to an internally regulated type, do you just have to change the plug on the alterator harness and disconnect the regulator, or is it more involved than that?
