steering box issues
Hey all, looking to tighten up my steering box a bit. Is there any way i can do that without rebuilding the box? The slop is not in tie-rod end joints etc..

Manual steering I take it. Overhauling would be the best bet but you can tighten it up a little by loosening the lock nut & turning the adjustment screw on top down. Be shure the wheels are straight ahead & after the vadjustment move the wheels back & forth to make shure there is no binding.

You have an allen head adjuster bolt on top of the steering gear with a jamb nut holding it in place. Put your allen wrench in the head of the bolt, hold it in place with one hand while backing off the jamb nut. Back the jamb nut off about a turn and turn in the allen bolt about 1/4 turn. While holding the allen bolt in place again, tighten the jamb nut.
See how it drives. If it is ok, you are good to go. If it has improved but not enough, then repeat the proceedure. If no improvement, replace the steering gear. WES
