Fuel Gauge Again.

I've replaced my sender and my gauge started working though giving an incorrect reading, so now I have fitted a replacement gauge and it still gives the wrong reading, I had a choice of two so tried the other and same thing . The tank is full to overflowing and it registers just under half a tank...WTF? since I bought this truck I haven't had a working fuel gauge. Any ideas??

Re: Fuel Gauge Again.

From what i've read there are two differnt fuel gauges. With differnt Ohms. I think one is a 60 and one is a 90 ohm. You can pick up one of those ceramic resister to put on the back and that should fix it.

Someone will correct me on the fix and the exact differnces. But thats seems to be the problem.

Re: Fuel Gauge Again.

Happy to help. I ran across that thread last week. I'm relocating my tank this weekend with one out of a 84 suburban, and i'd wanted to make sure that sending unit would work with my guage.

Hows the petrol prices across the pond??? Must be tough filling up that tank to check the full level. Here in the heart of Texas we're about $3.20 a gallon.

i just bought the resistor replacement. after waiting 3-1/2 weeks to get it, its just a plain ole run of the mill resistor from radio shack reading 87ohms.

We are on £5.00 a gallon here which I was telling someone in an earlier thread = $10.00 a gallon with the exchange rate. I get two comments every time I go out wow I love your truck, and how do I afford to run it.

Might start selling my body for Gas....keep the dream alive thats what I say.
