Hey there Gents, just wondering if anyone has ever used a starter kit like this one? If so how did it perform and was it worth the price? Thanks for the input fellas!

I bought that same kit a few months ago. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and picked up a $30 toaster oven to cook the parts so I have only done small peices but they have come out great. Instructions are really clear and its easy to use. If you plan on powdering alot of your parts its well worth it in my opinion.

You may want to check out Harbor Freight also. They have a very similar one for less $$

if you can buy it at eastwood you can buy it elsewhere cheaper,all they are is a rebranding company

I'm hoping mine will be on my front porch tomorrow! But I ordered the next step down $99 one. Same gun just not all the extras. Ill let you know how I like it.

$99 bucks? The one I saw on Eastwoodco.com was $139.99. Is there some kinda of deal that's going on? Cool, what do you plan on coating?

Im really not sure yet. My birthday was monday and my wife saw me looking at the other day and now its on its way.

That's what I'm saying. I have a buddy with an awesome '71 Olds and another with a '74 Chevy 4X4 that's willing to donate some cash to use the goods.

Does anyone know much CFM or PSI you shoot powder at?

the eastwood site movie clip siad you nned 5-10 psi so youd have to use a regulator...so id perdonally peolly shoot it at 6 or seven

I have the Harbor Freight system. Works great. I've not had any problems at all. The powder goes on nice and even. Plan on doing a lot more coating with this gun. Don't know how it would work on big projects, like frames. I use it on things that will fit inside a kitchen oven. They also sell the powders. My wife got the Eastwood kit above for me about a year ago. It works really well. You'll need a dedicated electric oven (keep your eye out for neighbors remodelling their kitchen). A sandblaster makes things nice too. The powdercoating kit works really well for me. Just watch your curing temperature and time. I too am limited on size of parts. Check out Eastwoods forums there is more info there than you can imagine.

Hey, new guy chipping in here...

I've got the $140 Eastwood kit. I got it about 2 years ago when they were having some big sale, don't remember the final price now. I've done tons of stuff with it. I was restomodding my '67 Belvedere convertible at the time (still need to finish the interior). I did intake, carb (body and linkage), all pulleys, all underhood brackets, alternator case, MC reservoir, timing cover, upper and lower control arms, center link, battery tray, door latches, hood latch, trunk latch, rear shock plates, spring mounts, shackle mounts, steering column trim, E-brake assembly, gas and brake pedals, tranny crossmemeber, engine mounts, etc, etc... I also did the intake and valve covers on my Camino in Chevy orange... I've got an old kitchen oven that I use... I've done several other things, but this kit will pay for itself, very quick, and you can do all those little parts you hate to take somewhere for fear of getting lost, etc...

I even powder coated a set of Chevy ralleys for my utility trailer...

I'm thinking about buying a '69 SWB Chevy, and if I do there will be a lot more powder coating from me...

It's funny you say that because I just scored an oven for $50 buck from some guy that got a brand new one

Does any one have any pictures of home powder coating work?

Looks like you can piece a system together from harbor freight for under $100. Seems the have black, red, and yellow in the 16 oz jars. This has opened my eyes.

I need to find an old used electric stove this weekend.

It wasn't hard at all to find a cheap one that worked. I searched on Craigslist and thru Thirfty Nickel ads and in about 30 minutes the search was over. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Makes me think why I have put it off for so long.

I have that setup and it works well. I do mostly motorcycle parts. I polish side covers and lower fork tubes and then coat them with the clear. I also do a lot of bolts and allen head fasteners. They hold up well and I no longer spend time trying to clean out the rust that collects in the allen heads.

I also use a bunch of their single stage chrome powder and gloss black.
