Spindle question

Spring seems to be showing here in Oregon now, and I need some spindles for the front but I do not know my brake size. Its a 1984 C10 Scottsdale without any sort of towing package. From that info would any of you guys know if i had the 1" or 1 1/4" rotors? Are they just referring to thickness?

Would you go for DJM or Belltech?

Re: Spindle question

Almost sure its 1 in rotor . just take wheel off & measure width of rotor. 5 leaf springs in rear ( not the heavyduty pk. ) usually means 1 in.

Wink Re: Spindle question

oh also both djm & belltech are highly regarded as the best & also western chassis. I didnt do my home work 5 yrs ago & put some cheap ones on my 84 (AIM INDUSTRIES) sO FAR NO problems but I still worry . Not worth the worry , get one of the others.

Re: Spindle question

Turn the front wheels and lay down on the ground. Take a tapemeasure and measure the thickness of the rotor at the backside of the tire.

Re: Spindle question

Yes, thickness of rotors. I would say measure them first. Take off on wheel and measure. I have a 78 low end 2wd straight six truck. Should of had the 1" rotors. But No someone somewhere at one time decided to go with 1 1/4" upgrade. This is after I ordered my spindles and was putting them on. Huge mistake. I learned.
Also FYI summit racing has the best prices and free shipping on spindles and springs. Also a great return policy.

Bell Tech

Good Luck

Re: Spindle question

Djm has better prices that I have found. Their 1.25" spindles were cheaper than the 1" if I remember correctly

You can also get a 3" drop with DJMs spindles. I bought mine from stylinconcepts because summit was on backorder. Prices were about the same.
