LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

I am considering buying some new fenders, etc. out of the LMC catalog and am curious how well they fit vs. the original panels. Any information would be great, thanks-

Re: LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

I have only used my LMC truck to see how things go together or come apart (never bought anything from them)...

I have heard (mostly) negative things about them though...

thin metal, poor fitting, costly shipping, etc.

The best money can be spent on finding used OEM parts and then mounting them on your ride (thicker metal, better fit, etc.) - if you are unable to do that...your best bet is to buy them (replacement parts) from one of the board vendors for this site...

They know the products they sell and with the support of this board they know if they sell junk - it will get back to the people here...go to the link below and scroll down to the red names (vendors) - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showgroups.php

To save some $$ - find the one closest to you to save on shipping or pick up the items in person...

Hope that helps.

Why don't you just go to Goodmark. Its just north of Atlanta and you can pick them up and save shipping. I agree with buying from the board vendors but you are so close.

Re: LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

Ive purchased small trim items and some electrical parts from them without much issue, but I dont think I would do the big parts from them, mostly for shipping reasons, but also based on lackluster reviews here.

That's what I did. It's in lawerenceville.... I think, it's been a couple years. They let me pull everything out of the boxes and inspect it before I took it away. They were friendly and helped me load everything.

Re: LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

Goodmark is right off of Hwy 316 man...

Stop by there and you will save a ton in shipping! Plus there is a good chance that items like that will get beat up some in shipping so if you stop by Goodmark you can inspect them before you leave!

I would just find some good used originals, they are still out there and they will fit better. Not that you won't have to work to align them, anytime you replace a body part you will have to work to get the fit you want. You will just have a better fit and finish with the originals, there is bodywork to consider though.

Anyway thats just my opinion!

Re: LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

I've bought the fenders and doors. I would buy the fenders again in a heartbeat, but pass on the doors. Not because of the fit (I got mine to fit well) they are just too damn "flimsy." The fenders are much more "beefy."

Question Re: LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

I recently picks up some rocker panels from LMC. The metal was pretty think but I had to cut every seam up by the door pillar to make it fit right. Not that i minded or knew anybetter, but as mentioned, they do take some smashing and grinding to fit just right. They drivers side floor plan i got the same day from LMC was WAY off on the bottom under the rocker. Almost an inch too short on the end to hit the bottom of the rocker. NOS is only for me in the future.

They even helped one of our customers from Canada un box and load the parts including a full floor pan, 2 full quarter panels and more inside the cab of an 18 wheeler. The guy there with the glasses (I forgot his name) is always willing to help,

Re: LMC / Aftermarket Body Panels

I just got rockers and backing plates from Classic and they are very good quality. I was surprised how well they fit and how heave the gauge steel they were.
I have seen some aftermarket stuff that I wouldnt fix a barndoor with.
