Rebuilding a Master Cylinder
I have a 1971 that needs to either have the Master Cylinder rebuilt or replaced. If I decide to rebuild, are there any special tools that required? Also, is it difficult? Difference in price $20 for rebuild kit vs $60 to replace.
Thanks in advance |

Re: Rebuilding a Master Cylinder
I've never rebuilt a chevy master, but I've done lots of Toyotas. If the bore is good, then just install the new parts. If you need a hone to clean it up, consider buying a new master.

Re: Rebuilding a Master Cylinder
I just paid $17.48 for a 1972 disk/drum master cylinder from Advance Auto Parts.
Unless your master is original and you want to keep it original, I wouldn't bother rebuilding it. Rob |

Re: Rebuilding a Master Cylinder
The dual master cyl. is harder to rebuild then the old single ones, & the kits are high. It's better to get a reman.

Re: Rebuilding a Master Cylinder
Doesn't make sense to rebuild when new ones are so cheap.
