Drip Rail Caulk

What is the preferred product to replace the original caulking that fills the bottom of the drip rail? The silicones that come to mind seem like they would heat shrink and come off after a few years, or leak around the sides and cause rust. Looking for specific product brands and types on this one. Thanks

Re: Drip Rail Caulk

Thanks, I'm sure I can find that now that I know what to ask for. Is there a paricular technique to filling the drip rails or just try to smooth where no water ponds or accumulates?

dont use silicone on any metal or body panels - it atacks the metal and causes rust...

use your finger - its the best sealing tool for gutters like that, wet it a bit first and the sealer wont stick as much to your finger.

Re: Drip Rail Caulk

There is a self leveling drip rail sealer that is made just for this purpose. If I'm not mistaken it's also made by 3M. I don't know if you can get it at an auto parts store or if you'll have to go to a paint supply store. Either way, it should fix you right up.

The self leveling works great on the horizontal areas, what do you use on the vertical areas?????

Re: Drip Rail Caulk

I've heard something about POR 15 making a sealer that prevents future rust, has anybody else heard of or used it, Ive got a little rust in my drip rail and want to do all I can to keep it from coming back.
