Ten months and ten days ago....

My idiot brother rearended my parked truck...

these pics dont do the damage that much justice, its worse than it looks.

Now, here I am just under a year later and Ive finally decided to do something about it.

I scored a new 'gate for $25 at a local yard, Ill post a pic of it later...need to dig the camera out. And gonna mock up the pan and get it ready for primer.

But now Im in trouble....I cant get the 'gate open thanks to the dent. Any ideas how to get the gate off without opening it? I can only get it open about 2 inchs...

I wanted to, but out mum wouldnt let us....he has ADHD or what ever so hes "special" which means he can do anything and use that as a crutch to get away with it.

Im not to mad about the 'gate, its just that he lied about. Then after his own friends, and my neighbor witnessed it. He finally confessed to it, but them he went around bragging about it. And how he dont have to pay to fix it....

Hes worthless.

Where would I cut with the sawzall? Ive never had the 'gate off any truck in my life. Now that I think about it I dont think Ive ever had the 'gate open in this truck.

If you got a decent gate that only needs paint for $25....BIG SCORE!

Right down the center and it will pop right open, OR you can cut the lower hinge with the sawzall. If you look right at the bottom of the gate you will see what looks llike a small pipe that slides into the gate. If tou hold the saw straite up you can slice the pipe in half then remove the gate with out cutting it. The bottom hinge part is easy and cheap at the yard were you got the gate and two bolts and it is off.

Get a sledge and pound out from the inside of the gate. Save alot of blades that way. You know what they say " Get a bigger hammer!"

Will that work? Im trying to not cut up the bes as much as possible. I might try to repair it/learn body work on it. Or I might just hack it up and use patchs from it as a filler panel for my old latch opening and do the relocation to the inside thing.

Re: Ten months and ten days ago....

you won't do any damage to the truck by kickin the gate. You may bow the gate depending on your size and leg power.
However, it might hurt his hand a little. (not injuy, just hurt)
