What do you think Lambo doors on my K5?

Just Kidding

Me and James were talking about what could be the most absurd thing that you could do to a K5 was. We were also trying to decide if something horrible like this would be a killing offence . I know you folks have seen some horrible things out there. So if you've got pics or accounts share what you've seen that should be punishable by law (or death).

Dayum, just the title alone should get ya flamed.

Cutting those big camper vents in the hard top is pretty rude IMO.

Notching the frame to slide some headers in, or cutting a hole in the sheet metal to run some trailer lights. They say measure twice before you cut, I think some people should flat out not be allowed to cut.

We all know you were joking. Anyone with a first gen K5 obviously has enough good taste to not do something that ricer...

That hide-away door is pretty cool huh? Problem is the space required underneath.

I saw his title and was reminding myself to go easy with the words before my finger could even click to the thread.
Lambo doors...since the first door was put on a cave they`ve worked just fine swinging left to right.Just like wheels work best being perfectly round, why mess with what works?I`m about change when it`s for the better. But,hate it when it`s just for the sake of change.I like Blazers with no doors.I look at those Lambo doors and think how much it hurts to slam a door on fingers.Imagine the hurt from one of those coming down when not wanted to.
I`ve seen a dual wheel Blazer. That seemed pretty worthless.

Re: What do you think Lambo doors on a my K5?

what I find the funniest when i see a video like that (the white car with the spinning doors) is that the guy sitting there playing with the switches thinks hes just the coolest guy on the planet. and i dont get in a big huff about it, it just means thats one more car/truck that is slower then mine

what really bugs me is when you get a guy like that, that has no respect for our trucks, or hot rods in general.

I do think that mods of the era should stay in the era though. if there wasn't lambo doors in 1969, they dont belong on a '69 anything.

I try to see all car guys, (ricers or not) as hot rodders, although that outlook can be pretty hard to keep sometimes ahahaha

...sorry for the rant.

Re: What do you think Lambo doors on a my K5?

That Lincoln was actually a factory concept that the Dearborn boys were toying with. That car was on evilBay awhile back, not sure how much it brought. If you guys want to see some real crappy taste in automobiles, visit any military instalation in the world. Stick-on side vents, fart can mufflers, 200 inch rims, and really cool vinyl graphics abound. If you have "Lambo" doors, you are considered a god. And lets not forget the stereo you can hear from a mile away (but is somehow less cop-atracting than my exhaust). I deal with this every day.

Re: What do you think Lambo doors on a my K5?

BMW had a concept car in the early 80s that had a drop down door. I remember seeing it in their museum. The car was sweet! The drop-door concept is pretty cool & I see lots of pros for it. Dunno if I want one on a 1st gen though. I'm very tired of the "Lambo" doors too. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't overdone. I'm with you guys - the customizing should fit the car. Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD! Put some thought into it! Show some creativity without being a lunatic. That's what gives cars a personality. Some of these cars have some warped personalities!
