Talking How do I know-4.1 or 4.8 inline six

how would I find out if my 6banger is a 250 cid or 292 cid and were can I get some engine specs .
oh yeah and were is the location of the rear axle i.d number. in the glove box it says it has a 307 rear end ratio but when I got the truck he mentioned he changed it. Hopefully for the good!

6bangr, the quickest way to tell the difference is where the engine mounts are. If they're even it's a 250. If they're staggered ( left one being farther back in the middle of the block) it's a 292. The 292 also has taller lifter gallery side covers than the 250.

And here's the 250... Notice that the lifter covers are shorter on the 250.

If the fuel pump is behind the motor mount, it's a 292. If the fuel pump is in front, it would be a 250.
