Bulb socket coming from st. column?

My 71 has a non tilt auto column and besides the usual wiring harness that comes out under the dash there is also a single wire with a bulb socket that uses the same 194 bulb as the cluster. Anybody know what this is for? I have never seen one on any other column. Thanks in advance.
