Front leaf springs

I have a 1987 GMC 1500 sierra 4x4. I need to replace the front leaf springs, due to the ones that are on it are bent flat (straight) if not bent slightly downward instead of upward (if i am wrong please let me know)I just want to put stock back on but I know nothing about leaf springs so how do i know if these are stock or aftermarket and how do i measure them to get the ride height to match the rear. The truck sits a little high from the factory so could there be a lift on it already? How do i tell? Please help and if anyone knows where to purchase them from for a reasonable price. Thanks to all!!

Re: Front leaf springs

I have mostly been around k5 blazers that are 4x4's and the front leafs are exactly how you described.
If you are worried about there being a lift on the truck there are a few things you can check.
First see if there are any blocks between the axle and the leaf spring.
Look for a 2 or 3 inch gap between the body and bumper (this signifies a body lift).
Lastly you can count the number of leafs in the pack. I think the stock ones are 3 in front and 5 in the rear.

Check out LMCtruck.com or Summitracing.com for new springs/shocks

Re: Front leaf springs

The stock front leaf springs on all 4x4 trucks of this generation all had a negative arch on them as you describe from the factory. Nothing to worry about unless you're like me and just want a lift kit.
