Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

Somebody help me! Every time I see a C-10 parked somewhere I wonder if it is for sale and im checking CL on a daily, no, hourly basis for trucks. I just cant seem to help myself. I bought an '84 a while back just because it was only $150. I didnt need it and it wasnt exactly a driver but hey...$150!!

I feel like such a deviant because whenever I buy a part or a truck I have to sneak it into the garage out back or hide it at a friends house.

Re: Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

well my friend i have some bad news for you.. there is no cure but the good news is that this site has plenty more like you ( and me) and its not a problem.. besides if youre lucky enough to have a wife like mine that supports me in my habit ( shes prolly a closet 73-87 trucker) yall can get closer... but if not like my first wife hated no make that HATED 73-87 chevy trucks or any truck for that matter, a 73-87 will more than likely turn over on a good cold morning which is far more likely than most women.. good luck with your addiction hey wanna see my truck parts??

Does the Pope wear a funny hat?

I LOVE looking at parts of all kinds. Ive got Summit, Jegs and LMC catalogs strategically placed all over the house so whenever I sit down ive got something fun to read.

Re: Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

Yeah, I've got the fever too. Too bad that there are more c10 trucks and parts around than there is money to buy them all.

On the other hand, at times I find myself afraid to drag home a truck or a part... because I know that a nicer one will become available on CL by the time I actually need it. I've passed up hundreds of good parts over the winter, mainly because I'm focusing my efforts on finishing my garage. But once spring arrives, it's parts-hoarding time.

The funny thing is, ever since I backed off my project last fall, cool parts have been falling into my lap... often for FREE! My best parts scores seem to come when there is no urgency, but that'll come to an end when the snow melts. Excitement is building now that I can almost see my tarp-covered small block and one of my tires beneath the melting snowbank.

My name is Pete and I am also an addict . I feel so much better to have that off my chest . I am constantly looking online for deals , I have 3 trucks and one in pieces , I hide parts at work and in the garage ....How I am going to hide those new 20" smoothies i dont know yet hahaha or that the truck all of a sudden goes up and down with air ride hahaha . I just have to keep buying and selling , so my parts dont cost $$$ out of the account haha .

I'm so bad I count all the 73-87's I see on the road daily when I'm driving. I always get to at least 10. It's amazing how many of these trucks are still on the road. Many are still work trucks as well for businesses from A-Z. I see more 70's and 80's era square bodies than 70's and 80's era Fords and Dodges, that's gotta mean something.

Re: Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

Snapped a picture of my Bowties playing in the yard yesterday.

edit - I filled the air tank on the van yesterday and "tested" the airhorns a few times. I figure it was the least I could do to show how much I appreciate the neighbors yapping dogs.

Re: Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

It's good to know we're not alone. I have 2 shortbox trucks and a longbox and still looking. My '70 SWB build thread starts like this: "Hi my name is Geoff, and I'm addicted to Chevy trucks"... Need I say more.

If you're looking for support, you are definitely in the right place... If you're looking to curb your addiction - you're screwed (along with the rest of us).

Re: Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

You are not alone! I too have a problem, the first thing i think about in the morning is my truck, and as i drift off to sleep at night i am dreaming about it.
Since i got my truck, my productivity at work as plummeted, my GF wants to dump me, and my bank account is empty.
I don't know what to do. How can i over come my demons?

Re: Hi, my name is Ogre and im an addict

I seem to have the same problem too! But its with any full size Chevy/GMC truck! I have a understanding girlfriend. She knows its an addiction that I cant shake! I have 2 69's, one 54, one 87 GMC, 70 dump truck, maybe a 70 swb in the works. I seen any parts...I am buying them. If I seen any V8 Chevys...I am buying them. I cant seem to stop.

Hello my name is James , i am a third generation addict. My first truck was given to me by my father (67 c10 swb). My grandfather passed and I inherited his truck (87 r10 silverado swb). I still own my first truck that i bought new (97 silverado ext cab swb). I still own all three trucks and have a daily driver honda besides my wifes maxima. Maybe thats why i can seem to afford a house in cali, living with inlaws is rough!
