Rear disk brake conversion ?'s

I'm going to be getting another truck for its body to extend the life of my old rust bucket.

Now, this truck still has the front brakes on it, so I was wondering is there a kit to allow the bolting on of the calipers and rotors to the rear axle?

Or is ther ea whole bunch of crap that needs done that makes it not really worth it, especially no a truck as old as mine that's primarily a daily driver?

I was just considering it since I'll have the majority of the major parts there already.

Re: Rear disk brake conversion ?'s

If you are talking about putting the front discs on the rear, not possible.

Re: Rear disk brake conversion ?'s

Hrm, after reading that write-up, I think I'm just going to get a really good set of shoes for the back and pads for the front and call it good. The truck never will be worth spending almost $900 on the brakes.

Thanks for the info, Captkaos. I appreciate it.

Thats common sense talkin now. Many of us never really over-tax the rear drums anyway, -- but i know discs look cool peeking out from behind your 18's.

Re-build it with quality parts and drive it like GM intended you to

Re: Rear disk brake conversion ?'s

Yeah, I was figuring that if the front calipers could be used and I had an extra set of them I could go the conversion on the cheap. Especially since I might be hauling a 22' double axle travel trailer to Montana soon.

But if it's going to cost that much and be that much of a pain, it's really not worth it for one trip, huh?

Especially on a work truck that, under the best of views, will NEVER be considered even close to "pretty".

Heh, have you seen my truck?

Definitely not worth spending a whole lot of money on brakes on......

And it's gotten worse since that picture was taken. I've lost about another 5 pounds of sheet metal off the bed.
