Where are your speakers.....

Right now mine are sitting in some quickly/cheaply made boxes on my trans. hump because I didnt know where to put them. The seats out of a 56 F-100 and it mounts too low to put them under, they are muffled when I put them behind the seat, kick panels...wont I kick them? Bottom of door? I dont really wanna cut up a good set of factory doors. Door panels? They are cheap and easy to replace, window regulator get in the way? Buy that headliner from LMC with the speakers already built into it?

I dont know what to do....I just want them off my damn floor though.

Re: Where are your speakers.....

Q-logic makes generic pods for separates. I have a set and will mount them at the kickpanels, but they only work with 67-68 E-brakes. I'll also mount a set in my door panels. Here's a good way to mount them:

So if your passenger says,"turn it up I like this song" you open up the glove box
Mines in the kick panels bought the ones they sell in the catalogues...did have to re-jig the E/Brake though.

Re: Where are your speakers.....

I've also got the kick panel speakers and a duel cone in the dash. I had to raise the seats 1 inch to get the two 8 inch sub boxes under the seats

Whatnow123, I've seen this done before and was going to suggest it myself. I'd like to do this someday as well, do you have any install pics of how you made it work and what materials you used?

Now thats really scary! I had to check to see if you were from Ohio as those boxes are identical to the ones that came with my truck and they mounted them to the kick panels -not good sound at all.

Re: Where are your speakers.....

My dad cut 6x9 holes in the doors in the mid 80's, so I put two Alpine type-R coax's in them, ran some infinity tweets in the dash, and built a box to go under the seat with 2 10" Kicker C-10's. Sounded pretty damn good with a seperate amp on each driver.

FYI - MDF makes a much better speaker box material than particle board.

As for the door holes... I likely would have agonized over it for a while before going ahead and cutting them. Similar argument as cutting the dash. IMO, doing both is an upgrade unless you are going for a stock look. "Fixing" them is as easy as tacking a panel back in and smoothing. No biggie.

Re: Where are your speakers.....

Are those boxes on the floor held down by anything?? Looks like the one on the DS would end up getting down around your pedals making things "fun."

What kind of speakers are they? At first glance, I thought 6x9's, but now I'm second guessing that....

Gravity....and they're Pioneer 6x9s. And Im thinking kickpanels now seeing as how I dont wanna cut holes in my door. Or tear my interior apart to mount them behind the seat.

Re: Where are your speakers.....

I would go for the kick panels..........I made these for my 'burb and they turned out well. I thought that it was a fun project to do also. I have considered raising the speakers w/ a newer design but I get good seperation so I have left them so far.
