This sucks

I went to play paintball saturday then when I got done playing I went home and went inside. Well I fell asleep then I got up sunday and went to play basketball with some friends then when I came back home I found a big pudel of trans fluid. Needless to say I was mad. Then I checked the fluid in the trans and there was none.

The point of me posting this is, How many times do you have crap like this happen to you. I was lucky I didn't drive out far. I could of mess up my trans because I didn't know I was leaking untile I got back home.

So other than that I am going to be fixing it Friday and saturday because I got to much crap at school to do. SOOOOOO this Really SUUUUUCCCCCKKKKSSSSS. I am stuck driving a PT Crusier

Re: This sucks

at least you aren't walking. I came down with a case of the red runs this week myself -- what ru planning to do to fix yours? I was thinking of just taking the tranny in to have the seals replaced

Re: This sucks

I beleive it's just the rear seal. It never leaks while sitting level. He was parked on a hill with the rear facing downward. It's also probably not completely empty, just low enough it doesn't read on the dipstick. I haven't been able to actually check it out myself.

Re: This sucks

A transmission can have a problem at ANY time.
In 2001 wife bought a new Escape. Drove home from dealer. Next morning she steps out to garage and floor covered with trans fluid. 12 miles on vehicle and needed a new transmission.
It was warrantied but goes to show what can happen.

I have had this happen to me 700r and turbo 350. And if it was parked facing uphill the tranny fluid will exit out the over fill hole in the tranny yoke. I filled the holes in mine and no more leaks just don't ovefill it.

Re: This sucks

I got to do a rear seal on my 84 when i get home also got a pan gasket, filter to do. The seal is about 3 bucks from NAPA and really easy to do. My friend also plugs his overflow with RTV as stated above. My tranny only has 12K since being rebuilt but it does sit alot.

IT is all part of owning an old truck....... i stopped getting mad at mine its old and sits during the winter so I know seals and other things are going to break... there is a price to pay to have an old truck and be able to fry the rear tires!!

Re: This sucks

yea. my truck is a daily driver. I know this is all part of having an old truck. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love working on my truck and don't have a problem when it starts to act up. just I hate when I can't drive it because I love driving it and really don't like driving the pt.

Good to hear that. Yeah going from your truck to a PT would drive me crazy too!

Re: This sucks

There is o-ring on the tailshaft that probably needs replaced. I wouldn't just rtv the hole in the slip yoke. Its there to release the pressure from the slip yokes movement.
