rusty bolts- need help

I am currenly in the dissassembly stage of my bed and have two new bedsides ret to go. I got the tailgate off and the front panel unbolted with no issues, however, the bolts that are in the inside "angle" are small cariage bolts and after a few turns, the bolt and the nut turn together and make no progress. So, does any one have any tips on how I get get these things off quick like? I wont be re-using them so the more destructive the better, Thanx.

Use an angle grinder? Or drill out the bolt heads? Hacksaw? Torch?

If you have a welder you can weld a nut on the bolt head.

wow! thanx for the feedback guys!! I was thinking about a torch and a air chisel, but some of your suggestions may be a little more do-able.

Re: rusty bolts- need help

you may be able to tighten the up and keep tighting them till they bust off. I do this all the time to get rust bolts off on these boxes

Re: rusty bolts- need help

On small bolts like that if you can get a vice grips on em, nose grip not a side grip, sometimes you can just rock em back and forth and they will break off.

Too bad both sides are spinning. The tighten em till they break is another good way, as suggested already.

2 words - oxygen, acetylene. Whenever I pull a bed or take one apart, I go ahead and get my torch rig out. I usually cut the nuts off without even trying to wrench them off - especially wood beds!!

Re: rusty bolts- need help

I took a small grinder and cut a slot so a friend could hold them with a big flat screw driver...
