I see no reason why the control arms would not work with the new springs. You should ask him what the specific issue was.

ill pull my stock front springs out of my donor truck and send them to you for your lowering springs..... ill send you mine first so you can get everything the way you like it, then after the swap, just shoot the shorter ones my way

Oh, I should probably add:
My gas tank is in the bed, hence the exhaust hanging below the frame. It's just a stock blazer tank, and it takes up the entirety of the space between the frame in the rear.

I don't mean to screw up a potential deal here but if you are worried about driveability, I really think you should get rid of those lower control arms. If you look at how they are built, the ball joint mounting position is stepped up which puts the bottom of the LCA that much closer to the ground. From the pictures, it looks like you only have an inch or two of clearance below the LCA which will almost certainly cause you trouble. Also, it is a fabricated part... Do you know who built them? Are the welds going to hold? You're just asking for trouble if you leave those in there. Your spring are fine, get rid of the control arms.

Agree totally.

Control arms don't "go bad."

Find out what the issue is for your own peace of mind...

consider finding a new mechanic also.

it's pretty funny! your mechanic or another of his customers deemed this setup too low. hence the reason they are extra, but he thought it was a good idea to lower your truck that way.i dunno dude! you may need to do some soul searching on this one.

Control arms rust through under the spring cup in my part of the world... Not sure what his looked like but I needed new lowers for both of mine... Boy would I love to live in one of them there rust free states!!

yeah rust free is awesome. i have never seen anything more than surface rust on any suspension part

Maybe the stock LCAs needed new ball joints and/or bushings and the mechanic thought he was doing you a favor installing those stepped LCAs that he had laying around.
